Ásbjörn Blöndal
Ásbjörn Blöndal holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.Sc. degree in Energy and Planning from the Aalborg University in Denmark as well as being an electrician from the Technical School of Siglufjörður. He became Executive Vice President of Resources and Project Development of HS Orka in 2021 but prior to that he was Vice President of Project Development at HS Orka/Hitaveita Suðurnesja from 2007. He was managing director of the engineering division of Árborg municipality between 2002-2007 and managing director of Selfoss Energy Company from 1989-2002. Ásbjörn has served on the boards of numerous organisations and councils. He was chairman of the board of Samorka, the Federation of Icelandic Energy and Water Works (1994-1996), chairman of a steering committee for the utilization of wind power in Iceland 1999-2006 and chairman of the board of Vesturverk from 2019. He has been member of diverse work groups on behalf of Samorka, the Árborg community and Icelandic ministries.
