Expansion of Svartsengi Power Plant
HS Orka began construction on the expansion and renovation of the power plant in Svartsengi in the middle of 2023. The project is called SVA7, but it consists of renewing older equipment, installing a new machine and increasing the production capacity of the power plant by a third.

Krýsuvík
Aspirations for utilizing the geothermal resource in Krýsuvík have a long history, and in 2024 the municipality of Hafnarfjörður and HS Orka signed an agreement on research and utilization of resource rights in Krýsuvík for the production of hot water, fresh water, and electricity. The goal is to increase the reliability of hot water supply in Hafnarfjörður and other parts of the capital area, as well as to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country.

Hvalá Power Plant and other VesturVerk projects
The main goals for the power plant to enhance the security of electricity delivery in the Westfjords, where electricity delivery is currently the least secure and interruptions are most frequent in Iceland. The Hvalá power plant is located in a geologically cold area, and in light of the earthquakes in the southwest corner of the country, it will also contribute to national electricity security.
