HS Orka owns and operates two hydroelectric power plants in Fjarðará in Seyðisfjörður with a total installed capacity of 9.8 MW.
Fjarðará power plants was commissioned in 2009. There are two plants, Bjólfs power plant and Gúls power plant. HS Orka purchased the plants in August 2023, but previously HS Orka managed their electricity production and bought all electricity from them since their commissioning.
There are good storage reservoirs in Lake Heiðarvatn and Þverárlón in Fjarðarheiði, and regulation from them allows HS Orka to utilize the production of the plants to meet peak loads of general users in winter. The energy production of the plants is primarily intended as electrity sales to general users. The installed capacity of Fjarðará power plants in Seyðisfjörður is a total of 9.8 MW.
