Safety and Occupational Health Policy

Management of Safety and Occupational Health Matters

The risks associated with the safety of people in the work environment are assessed, and necessary protective measures are defined according to the scope of the assessment. Risks are evaluated for all routine tasks and regularly reviewed with the involvement of employees and managers. We work towards continuous improvement in safety, health, and occupational health matters. All safety deviations are clearly addressed, and procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure safe execution of tasks, progress, and reliability. Clear processes and deviation recording aim to learn from incidents to prevent recurrence. Education and preventive measures are key elements to ensure the effectiveness of safety rules, both among HS Orka employees and contractors. Managers are responsible for ensuring that the working conditions and facilities for employees meet the best safety standards.

Annually, employees are offered health screenings related to work-related risks such as noise, pollution effects, physical and mental stress, etc.

Employee Participation and Safety Culture

All HS Orka employees and contractors complete a safety course at the start of their employment on HS Orka premises. Competence in safety and occupational health matters is strengthened and maintained through regular and targeted training. Special emphasis is placed on training employees in the application of “life-saving rules.”

Employees are encouraged to provide improvement suggestions and are also responsible for following established procedures. At staff meetings, examples of progress and deviations are discussed among employees.

The development of attitudes and active participation of employees in safety matters is monitored. This is done through pulse surveys at least twice a year and a more detailed survey every two years.

HS Orka contributes to improving the safety culture in the community as a whole. Therefore, the company participates in cooperation and dialogue with organizations and private entities on the progress and development of safety and occupational health matters. Part of this is to introduce stakeholders to our work in this field.

Goals

Each year, HS Orka sets challenging, well-defined, and measurable goals aimed at reducing the likelihood of employees and contractors experiencing accidents or health issues at work. The main focus is on proactive metrics and related goals. Goals are presented and approved by the process council, which reviews progress monthly, and the results of measurements are part of the regular publication of sustainability information.
